There are numerous controversies, half-truths, and opinions…most condemnatory…floating about the internet about exotic animals as pets. Most of the vitriol is coming from people who have not, have no wish to, and will in no way personal an exotic animal. I hope my articles can clear the air and give a balanced viewpoint. The exotic pet trade is neither best nor an atrocity. It is basically like any other pet trade.

I give mine snails and freeze dries blood worms but his teeth preserve developing. Would ghost shrimp aid? When he eats snails he only bites it when the snail is out of his shell. He does not use his teeth to bite the shell. I have plants and even modest fish but he does not bite them any longer. He’s accepted the modest fish as element of the aquarium and I have not observed any new bite marks on the plants.
