New England Regional Companion Animal Shelter
We at times neglect how significantly animals support individuals and even when we drastically really like the pets and animals we care for, it’s all as well simple to take them for granted. We can neglect that they, as well, care for us.
Exotic pets are not dogs, so never treat them like dogs or count on them to act like dogs. Not each and every animal can be a dog. Most farm animals are not dogs and are therefore not treated like dogs, they are treated like chickens, cows, and horses. For that reason, treat a fox like a fox. An exotic pet owner ought to be prepared to embrace the special challenges of an additional species. Some exotic pets are skittish, smelly, and ‘independent’. Give them space when they need to have it.
Generally, it depends on your climate and your time of year. Ducklings generally need a heat source for their very first two weeks of life, 24 hours a day. Most ducklings can go outdoors in warmer climate for the duration of the day by the time they’re a month old, although they will need to be protected from predators. It is normally advisable that they don’t go outside full time until they are totally feathered at about seven to eight weeks.
If you’ve been following my posts on a standard basis you would know that I enjoy writing about successful adoption stories but I seldom speak about the tragedies that take place due to pets landing in a house where owners do not take the responsibility to ask for help if their dog is not behaving as they count on him to be and then, frustrated, the owners drop their dog off at the shelter to wait for a patient, knowledgeable soul to take him residence but, tragically, many are euthanized since they became unhealthy, or they have been overlooked due to the fact of its size, breed, age, or behavior.
I found my cat in an animal shelter. I picked her out since of her wonderful character, but most of all because of the name that they had given her. Her name is Autumn Rose. Autumn is my step mom’s mother’s name (my step grandmother) and Rose is my (late) mother’s mother’s name (my biological grandmother’s name). It believe the connection of the cat and me (and the name that was provided to her) was meant to be.
